On April 2 officers went to the 2500 block of 8th Avenue on a narcotics complaint. They spoke with the person in the apartment and searched the residence. They located marijuana and other narcotics. The investigation is ongoing.

On April 3 officers were dispatched to Allsup’s on 23rd Street in reference to a door-to-door salesman. The man was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. He lied about his name when asked, so he was arrested for the narcotics and failure to identify.

Officers made a report for identity theft on April 3 in the 300 block of 16th Street. The victim reported that someone had placed a stop on his mail service. He later received several credit cards that someone had opened using his information.

Also on April 3, officers recovered an abandoned bicycle in the 2900 block of 4th Avenue.

On April 4 a female was reported to be shoplifting at Walmart. She ran out of the store when employees confronted her. The police stopped the vehicle she was driving on Russell Long Boulevard. The driver evaded officers and was arrested after a brief vehicle pursuit.

Also on April 4, a theft of fuel was reported at Allsup’s on 8th Street. The suspect was an elderly male driving a silver Jeep Liberty.

On April 5 a storage unit was burglarized in the N. 200 block of 13th Street. The suspect stole a Sawzall and a miter saw.

Also on April 5, a citizen reported that someone else had filed her taxes without her knowledge.

On April 6 there were two vehicles burglarized in the parking lot of 47 Valleyview. The suspects broke both doors handles on the vehicles and they took speakers, a stereo, an amplifier, a wallet and a shotgun.

On April 7 officers stopped a vehicle in the N. 200 block of 23rd Street. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Officers were dispatched April 7 to the 2700 block of 5th Avenue in reference to an argument. A female was issued a citation for assaulting the man she was arguing with.

Also on April 7, officers checked out with a vehicle in SE Park. The driver was issued a citation for possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

On April 8 officers stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of Highway 60. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated. The passenger was arrested for possession of marijuana and for tampering with evidence.

There were two reportable crashes this week. The crashes were due to following too closely and speed.
