On June 6 a scam was reported in the 300 block of 4th Avenue. The victim was sent a check by Mystery Shopper, which is a company known for scamming citizens. The letter told the victim to deposit the check into their private checking account and then to purchase gift cards with the money they withdrew from cashing the check. The gift cards were to be mailed to an address in Utah. A few days later the bank told the victim that the check was fraudulent, so the victim was out the $2,000.

On June 7 a verbal argument was called in in the 2600 block of 6th Avenue. The officers went to the address and smelled the odor of marijuana while inside the apartment. They searched and located marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The owners were issued citations.

Also on Officers were called to the 4100 block of Tierra Blanca on a scam. The victim reported that he received a computerized call saying that he had an outstanding warrant, and he needed to send the caller money. The victim realized that this was an old scam that he had heard of in the past, so he didn’t send any money.

On June 8 officers made a traffic stop at Interstate 27 and 4th Avenue. They located alcohol and marijuana during a search, and citations were issued.

Also on June 8, officers made a report in reference to a sexual assault. The investigation is ongoing.

Officers made a traffic stop on June 8 at U.S. Highway 87 and Buffalo Stadium. The vehicle was searched and drug paraphernalia was found. Th driver was issued a citation and released.

On June 9 officers were dispatched to the 800 block of 23rd Street in reference to a theft of alcohol. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

On June 10 officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of 4th Avenue on a theft.

Officers were dispatched June 10 to the 900 block of 3rd Avenue in reference to a burglary of a residence.

Officers made a traffic stop on June 10 at U.S. Highway 87 and Hunsley. The vehicle was searched and marijuana was found. The investigation is ongoing.

Also on June 10, 0fficers were dispatched to the 1900 block of 4th Avenue in reference to a damaged window.

Officers were dispatched to Walmart on June 10 on a theft. A man was arrested and taken to jail.

There were four reportable crashes during the week. The crashes were due to unsafe backing and failure to drive in a single lane.
