On June 18 officers made a traffic stop in the North 100 block of 4th Street. A male passenger jumped from the vehicle and ran. He was later charged with evading arrest.

Also on June 18, a burglary report was made in the 400 block of 9th Avenue. The homeowner found that someone had entered the home, but nothing was taken.

A theft of a cell phone was reported June 18 in the 2100 block of 2nd Avenue.

On June 19 officers arrested a male on an outstanding felony warrant in the 500 block of 3rd Street.

On June 20 a counterfeit bill was $100 bill was passed at Allsup’s in the 900 block of 8th Street.

On June 22 an assault was reported in the 2700 block of 5th Avenue. A male was arrested and transported to jail.

On June 23 officers made a traffic stop in the N. 200 block of 23rd Street. The vehicle was searched and marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found. The driver was issued citations and released.

Also on June 22 officers responded to the N. 300 block of 15th Street on a theft of alcohol.

Officers were dispatched June 22 to 3rd Avenue and 11th Street in reference to a suspicious male walking. Officers located the man and he was found to be injured from falling, and he was also intoxicated. He was treated for his injuries, and he was transported to jail for public intoxication.

On June 24 officers made a traffic stop in the 300 block of 11th Street. The driver was arrested for DWI and DWLI.

On June 25 officers were dispatched to an address on North Ridge in reference to a violation of a restraining order complaint.

On June 27 a report of criminal mischief was made at an address on Valley View. The plumbing lines on a new construction site for apartments were damaged.

On June 28 officers made a traffic stop on Interstate 27 at Mile Marker 106. The driver was arrested for DWI and Possession of Marijuana.

On June 29 officers made a traffic stop on US 87 at the US 60 split. The driver was arrested for DWI.

On June 30 officers were called to the 1400 block of 9th Avenue in reference to a phone scam. The victim received a phone call from an unknown phone number. The person told her that one of her family members had been involved in a traffic accident and they were arrested. She was told to send money via UPS to an address in Maryland. She sent a total of $25,000 during two separate transactions.

Also on June 29, officers made a traffic stop in the 700 block of US 60. The vehicle was searched, and drug paraphernalia and methamphetamines were found. The driver was arrested and transported to Randall County Jail.

On July 1 officers were dispatched to an assault in the 5700 block of 4th Avenue. A male was arrested for assault/family violence.

On July 9 officers made a traffic stop in the 400 block of 23rd Street. The driver was arrested for DWI, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The theft of a bicycle was reported July 9 at 15th Avenue and 28th Street.

Officers made a traffic stop July 9 at US 87 and Hunsley. The driver had a suspended license and fictitious registration. A report was made and will be sent to the District Attorney’s Office.

Officers were dispatched to 4th Avenue and 23rd Street in reference to a female assaulting another female. The investigation is ongoing.

On July 10 officers made a traffic stop in the 2400 block of 4th Avenue. The driver was arrested for outstanding warrants and issued a citation for minor in possession of alcohol.

On July 12 officers made a traffic stop at US 87 and Hunsley. The driver was found to have a suspended license and she gave officers a false date of birth during the stop. A report was made and will be forwarded to the Randall County DA’s Office for prosecution.

Debit card abuse was reported to officers by phone on July 12 at the police department.

On July 14 officers were dispatched to Walmart in reference to a male assaulting another male. A report was made and will be forwarded to the DA’s office for possible prosecution.

On July 15 officers made a traffic stop in the 1100 block of 7th Avenue. The driver was arrested for DWI.

Officers made a traffic stop July 14 in the N. 1700 block of 23rd Street. The driver was arrested for DWI.

Officers were dispatched July 14 to Walmart on a theft. The man was located and arrested for outstanding warrants, and he was issued a citation for the theft from Walmart.

There have been several burglaries reported recently. A suspect was located and arrested for a burglary on 5th Street, but there are other burglaries that are still under investigation. Please contact Canyon Police at (806) 655-5005 if you have any information.
