The morning school traffic went well for the first week of school. Canyon Police Department asks drivers to keep it safe by slowing down, being observant and staying off of cell phones.
On Aug. 13 officers made a traffic stop in the 1600 block of 23rd Street. Officers searched the vehicle, and they found marijuana and alcohol. The officers issued citations.
On Aug. 15 officers checked on a suspicious vehicle at Walmart. The driver had outstanding warrants, so he was arrested. Officers located narcotics and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle, so he was charged with possession of those items, as well.
Officers checked on another suspicious vehicle Aug. 15 at Walmart. The driver was found to be intoxicated from inhaling aerosol. He was arrested and transported to jail.
Also on Aug. 15, officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of 10th Avenue on an assault. The investigation is ongoing.
On Aug. 17 officers made a traffic stop in the 2300 block of Russell Long Boulevard. The vehicle was searched and they located THC wax and paraphernalia. The driver was arrested and taken to jail.
A black homemade trailer was reported stolen Aug. 17 from the 100 block of 6th Avenue. The trailer is 17’ long and 6’ wide. The trailer is valued at $2,500 and it has a silver stripe on the trailer railing.
Officers made a traffic stop Aug. 17 on Griffin. The driver was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
On Aug. 19 officers arrested a man on an outstanding warrant at his residence in the 100 block of 6th Avenue.
There were two reportable crashes during the week, and they were both due to failure to drive in a single lane.
